These past few days media from all over the world have been covering Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem where Israeli settlers backed up with Israeli police decided to do forced expulsion of Palestinians from their own house, and also attacking prayers in Al Aqsa Mosque compound. What we already knew is that Palestinians have already been suffering since the first Nakba in 1948 when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were expelled from their own homes.

About Sheikh Jarrah (and some fundamental facts about US involvement) and Al Aqsa attack; Subhi Taha, a Palestinian-American content creator gladly explains to you what's happening on a video posted on his instagram account:
subhi taha (@subhi.taha) • Instagram photos and videos Sheikh Jarrah (which also based on two of the six families that expulsed this May)
so you want to talk about... (@soyouwanttotalkabout) • Instagram photos and videos also summarizing what's happening in Sheikh Jarrah and Palestinians struggle since the first nakba

But what does Al Aqsa attack have to do with forced ethnic displacement in Sheikh Jarrah. Sheikh Jarrah, alongside with countless violation committed by Israeli Government, is an attempt of ethnic cleansing by displacing them in order to make a whole Jewish neighborhood through an act that says this land was once owned by Jews before 1948, and therefore allowing them to steal these houses; even though the presence of Israeli use of power in Occupied East Jerusalem according to international law is illegal. This leads to protests all around Palestinian territory and other occupied Palestinian cities. Israeli military attack in Al Aqsa compound is an attempt to respond to these protests and imply that as long as Palestinians remain silent on the injustice that's happening, crimes that they committed, violence that they perpetuated, they will let Palestinians to pray in Al Aqsa, but if not, we know the consequences as we've seen they raided into the mosque, throwing grenades and teargas, and lock the Palestinians inside, and even burn the compound. This is a colonial way of oppressing people. But not only that, Palestinians in Gaza also try to resist this oppression by launching rockets to Israel, only to be bombarded by Israel by targeting a civilian-heavy area which led 20 Palestinians killed, 9 of them are children. This is also a form of suppressing Palestinians to not act out and behave as the Israeli Government told to.
While some of us might still want to be neutral regarding the conflict between the two, here's resources from btselem, Jerusalem-based human rights organization that documents human rights violations in the Israeli-occupied territories:
This Is Apartheid (btselem.org)
In this website you will find out that: the entire area is organized under one principle: advancing and perpetuating the supremacy of one group – Jews – over another – Palestinians; Israel works to “Judaize” the entire area, treating land as a resource chiefly meant to benefit the Jewish population; in violation of international law, it has built over 280 settlements in the West Bank; the territory between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea is governed by a single regime that works to maintain Jewish supremacy; and it is impossible to fight injustice without naming it: apartheid. All of the facts stated indicate that not only is "the only democracy in the middle east" is committing crimes and violation of human rights, but also the whole system is apartheid and oppressing one specific group, the Palestinians. If calling out a country will make you labeled as anti-semitic, this video will give you a description of how anti-semitic attack reports work and how this motion is exactly one way to censor Palestinians (207) Censoring Palestine: The Weaponisation Of Anti-Semitism - YouTube
Throughout the decades people who are considered fighter for justice, against oppression and systemic racism have always been speaking out supporting the Palestinians. Angela Davis, Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, Newton Huey P., and also Nelson Mandela. (source: redfish (@redfishstream) • Instagram photos and videos)
So the real question is, how exactly to be an ally with the Palestinians?

1. Use the correct terminology to describe the situation. Do not use PLM, eviction, conflict, both sides, war, or clash. But instead, use the terms apartheid, colonialism, state-sanctioned violence, ethnic cleansing, boycott Israel, end the occupation, illegal settlements, and anti-zionism. You might encounter people accusing you for being anti semitic, but being anti zionism doesn't make you anti semitic, as Zionism as ideology doesn't represent the whole Jewish people; as we see in this post #Africa4Palestine (@africa4palestine) • Instagram photos and videos
- and side note, if you are silent about Israeli violence against Palestinians because you believe it anti semitic, what you are saying is that Judaism stands for ethnic cleansing, land theft, and murder. This is what anti semitic is. (Adalah Justice Project)
2. Do not allow news titles to manipulate the actual situation in Palestine. Stay educated and learn from the right source, ask Palestinians or human rights advocate group if you're confused or not sure about it.
3. Stop the censorship of Palestinian content. The current situation in Sheikh Jarrah are being censored and removed from Instagram and Facebook, where most of the sources are updated. There are two ways to fight censorship: engage with the post by liking, sharing, and commenting; and when you see livestream about Palestine, share it with your friend and engage as much as possible.
4. JOIN A BDS MOVEMENT. Although in some part of the world BDS is considered an anti semitic movement, but BDS is in fact about boycotting the system, not the individual or even the ethnicity. Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions. Further information look at the internet or simply click this link BDS Movement to look further about BDS.
5. SIGN A PETITION: residents of Sheikh Jarrah create a petition: Stop Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinians from East Jerusalem! (everyaction.com)
